Perched in the hillside of Austin’s Westlake Highlands, this project marries contemporary architecture with the minimalism of Palm Springs-inspired plantings. From the outset, the client envisioned a landscape that complemented the stark white walls and limestone gravel entry courtyard, maintaining a clean, modern vibe.

We faced the dual challenge of selecting structural plants that could endure Austin’s intense summer heat while remaining resilient against winter freezes. The result is a dynamic desert plant palette featuring sculptural yuccas, accented by low-voltage lighting that adds depth and drama to the space.

A secondary entryway guides visitors to the guest quarters down the hillside. Steel stair risers with stone inset treads lead the way, while a custom planter conceals drainage solutions from the uphill overflow parking.
